Nova's Rambles

Got in and finally did a little bit of cleaning up for my Nekoweb landing page.

It's been something I been wanting to do for a very, very long time but never figured out how to do so. Much of the bulk were the text-based webrings or the ones where you had no choice but to place them on your landing page, lest the webmasters of them or the rings themself mark your site as invalid.

So, I decided to look up how to do a drop-down menu of some kind and learned the magic of the <details> tag (and descriptions with the <summary> tag lol), and holy shit did it clean up a SIGNIFICANT amount of space. Though that now brings up a new additional detail of me telling webmasters where to look, it still gives me that peace of mind that the page is no longer cluttered asf, it looks and feels so much cleaner now.

Speaking of cleaning, I need to find ways to reduce the carbon emissions of my webpage.

Since I first made my website, I went crazy with widgets and other fun stuff, but now that a year has basically passed, I'm going to be finding ways to not only reduce the widgets to iframes, but also text versions of webrings too. I know Nekoweb doesn't use bog-standard resources, but carbon emissions are dependent on the users themselves, and I am 100% the type of user who wants to leave less of a carbon footprint in their life.

It'll be a project that's 100% a WIP, but maybe for like, how Baccyflap has their webring widgets set up I could look at their site (or even ASK them) for some pointers. I still wants the links to have some functionality while not breaking anything on whatever ringscript they use.
